"Natural Aristocracy"

You are probably a merchant of Boston or Philadelphia, although you could be a plantation owner. You are someone who sees yourself as holding the potential to lead society, but that with this potential comes responsibility to those less fortunate than you. But just as you help those below you on the social ladder, so they should defer to you in matters of governance. You are probably a member of your state's legislature and already have a strong sense of how government should work. You might already be reading works by John Locke, James Harrington, and other English Dissenters of the 17th century. No pressure.
